POSTLUDE - IN THE UK

We spent a week UK visiting with family.  First we drove to Stourport where we had lunch with Jean and then went over to see Don at Heron's Court.  He seemed to be pretty stable, enjoys his bisquits and the staff all are very kind.  He is being well cared for. Not a lot of progress and all very sad.

After a night at the usual bed and breakfast we drove to Balsall Common to see Valeria, Paul, Ella and Toby.

Leaving Derby  we made short call on Annie Berwick and Tom and Dan in Purley, near Reading, and then our journey home took us back to Gatwick Airport to return the rental car and then by train London.  That wasn't as easy as planned as the line we wanted use had problems and we were diverted to Victoria and not St. Pancras.  A bit of a nuisance as the hotel we were staying at was convenient to St. Pancras where we were leaving from the next day.  We had to take a taxi from Victoria to Camden Town and had an earful from the driver about Uber.  Apparently there are five times a many Uber drivers as regular taxis, he wasn't pleased about that.  Interestingly the next day we ordered a taxi at the hotel and, lo and behold, it was an Uber driver!  Uber drivers work for an agreed fee, no meters for them.

From St. Pancras we took the Eurostar to Brussels and changed onto a German Railways ICE train to Frankfurt.  This was pretty quick to Cologne and then really fast on a dedicated high speed line to the airport where we stayed overnight and then flew home with Lufthansa and then Air Canada to Comox.
